Mosquitoes, Insect-Borne Diseases, and Prevention

The health authorities have strongly recommended that people avoid
being outside at dusk because of mosquito-borne illnesses. Most SYSL
practices take place at dusk and are played on fields with plenty of
mosquitoes.

Kids, parents, and coaches are at increased risk for West Nile Virus,
EEE, and similar mosquito born illnesses.

Parents are encouraged to spray their kids with insect repellent (with
DEET or Picaridin) to help prevent and control the outbreak of these
insect-borne diseases.
